I seem to have constant reoccurring lessons. it's easy to lose sight of our goals. it's easy to fall into apathy and just go through our daily routines. Ive been busy trying to juggle work and school that it's nice to jus have a day to not worry about anything. Every once in a while it's very refreshing to step outside of our circumstances and reflect on who we are, who we want to be and what we value.
This year i wanted to grow in self-confidence and somehow i think i have. If we grow in confidence we can tackle things in life without doubting ourselves. Who cares if we fail, that's part of the learning process. Who cares what others think, just be yourself. I also want to work on being more positive, that includes killing negative thoughts, how i view myself and how i interact with others. But.. easier said then done. Have you ever met someone who purposely tries to be very positive and smiles a lot? It's contagious.
There's a verse in 1 Corinthians 13 that talks about how if we do not love, we are nothing. I remember we had to memorize this chapter in junior high and high school. If we don't love God, ourselves and others, really life becomes meaningless and also very empty. So with this it becomes pretty clear what is important in life. Treasure God's goodness, treasure relationships, see yourself and love yourself the way God loves you. And then when we look back at all our problems, anxieties, and insecurities, they really don't seem so bad in the big picture. In fact, life is actually really good!
ok super random. But the other night i was watching top 5 ghost caught on camera on youtube and i completely freaked myself out. Never watch ghost videos at 2am in the morning by yourself. Like im usually skeptical of most ghost videos, but i was like ah hell no this is too real. i couldnt look in bathroom mirrors for a while lol. and so i told my friend about em and we started sharing scary stories, for some reason it's just too funny sharing creepy stories with someone.
Have you ever told yourself, "Today i'm gonna get this done. And it's like the one thing on your to do list, and for whatever reason you just don't do it?" It's easy to make up excuses. On Sunday I wanted to go to the gym, but instead i ate jook and took a nap. That stuff jus knocks me out! So i was like tmrw i'll go forsure. Then Monday came and it was Halloween, and again fell into slothfulness and wasted the day on the computer accomplishing nothing. Anyways.. so today i was like.. I don't care what happens i need to go to the gym, no excuses! An energy drink and loud trap music somehow transforms me. I feel like i can do anything when im filled with abundant energy rushing in my blood. Feels good to be alive and a bit hyper lol.
There's something super enlightening about physical exercise. i know i say that a lot. working out is a test against yourself, to see how far you can push yourself. it forces you to move and get out of your head. There's something about health, nutrition and fitness that trains your mind to become your best self. There's even something spiritual about it. As i walk to and from the gym, i'm able to get out of my own way, and i become more open to reflection.
Besides staying in good shape, some other benefits to physical exercise are..
-you'll burn calories and fat
-you'll build stronger bones
-you'll be more flexible
-proactive against risk of heart disease, diabetes and cancer
-you'll handle stress better
-studies show you'll be smarter and happier
-can also help improve your diet
-you'll sleep better
-helps fight depression
-add years to your life
-builds a stronger memory
-builds self-esteem and self-discipline
-you'll be more productive
Exercise forces yourself to push through challenging obstacles. Your body says "Just give up," but your will says, "No! Don't quit, keep fighting!" And i believe this builds perseverance, stamina and self-confidence. Working out is putting your body through stress but teaching yourself that you have the ability to control and overcome it. In many research studies, exercise alone has proven to be more beneficial in combating depression, even more than antidepressants, and without any side effects #truefact. I believe the discipline of pushing yourself to exercise is also applied to how we go about handling other obstacles in life. So the lesson of the day is go work out! lol the end.
