Steve Porter
Prof. Steve Porter was my favorite Spiritual Formation teacher at Talbot School of Theology/ Biola University. So smart, so humble, such a good communicator, deep, relevant, practical and a great teacher. I wish I got to take more classes from him. He's easy to listen to and you can see he lives out to apply what he preaches. He also uses good examples, stories and experiences to teach his lessons.
One day I saw Prof. Steve Porter just playing with his kids on in the grass on campus. And I thought, that's exactly God's relationship with us. God invites us to simply be with Him, to enjoy spending time with Him, He delights in us and loves us much more than we can imagine. Without even knowing it, he demonstrated what the Father's love for us is like. Perhaps the reason he never made it to that wedding was so that it could be a great sermon example to teach others!
9 "But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong."
2 Cor. 12:9-10
