Do Better. Be Better.

In pursuing your best-self, the goal should be to be better than you were yesterday. Sometimes it's being better than who you were 10 minutes ago. Life is about growing, learning and self-development. It's becoming better in every aspect. There are many times I am not at my best-self. There's times I know I could've done better. Mistakes, failures and disappointments are inevitable.. but this is how you learn to step up your game, to keep your chin up and look towards building a brighter tomorrow.

Be More
Be Better
Be Stronger

In All Your Ways, Acknowledge Him

God thank you for today. Sometimes I wake up and forget to acknowledge you in my life. I wake up only thinking about myself and get distracted. I realize how often I put other things before you. I repent for my sins and for not turning to you. Help me to abide in you. To desire you first and foremost above everything else.

i wonder what my life would look like if I consistently walked closely with you in intimacy. Sometimes I just wander off on my own. I don't even realize sometimes how far I drift away. Draw me back to you. Father God remind me of who you are. Reveal your truths to me and put your desires in my heart. Remove anything that hinders me from growing closer to you. Help me get rid of any idols in my life. Help me get rid of things that are not from you.

Father God, sometimes I don't understand why things happen the way that they do, but in any matter help me to trust you. I pray that you'd give me more clarity and guidance. To help me go in your direction.

The Morning Miracle

I finished reading a book called, "The Morning Miracle," by Hal Elrod. You could read it too, or maybe just watch this video where he talks about the 6 habits that helped him transform his life.

He talks about how we're capable of creating health, wealth in finances, growth through spirituality, happiness, love in relationships and success in our life. He talks about not settling for mediocracy and maximizing our full potential.

"Every single one of us already has everything we need to be the happiest we could ever be; it's simply up to us to remember that in every moment."

"Never forget that who you are becoming is the single most important determining factor in your quality of life, now and for your future."

"Your level of success will rarely exceed your level of personal development because success is something you attract by the person you become."

The author talks about how he overcame a deadly car crash, depression and financial debt. Not just with positive thinking, but with a focused mindset towards achieving his goals. Not just changing his life circumstances, but who he is as a person. And this book covers 6 disciplines that he practiced every morning to help his self-development.

So the 6 activities he does every morning is Meditation, Affirmations, Journaling, Visualization, Reading and Exercise.

An easier acronym to remember he uses is SAVERS

S ilence
A ffirmations
V isualization
E xercise
R eading
S cribing

I suggest everyone try incorporating these proven disciplines into their morning to start their day off right. It really can do wonders! Once you get the skeleton template down, you can personalize it however you want!

The Pursuit of God - A.W. Towzer

Lord, I would trust Thee completely; I would be altogether Thine; I would exalt Thee above all. I desire that I may feel no sense of possessing anything outside of Thee. I want constantly to be aware of They overshadowing Presence and to hear They speaking Voice. I long to live in restful sincerity of heart. I want to live so fully in the Spirit that all my thought may be as sweet incense asending to Thee and every act of my life may be an act of worship. Therefore I pray in the words of They great servant of old, "I beseech Thee so for to cleanse the intent of mine heart with the unspeakable gift of Thy grace, that I may perfectly love Thee and worthily praise Thee." And all this I confidently believe Thou will grant me through the merits of Jesus Christ Thy Son. Amen.

All Things

"For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons and daughters of God. For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons and daughters by which we cry out, "Abba! Father!" The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him." (Romans 8:14-17)

"Now in the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness, for we do not know what to pray for as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; and he who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God."

"And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose."

(Romans 8:26-28)

Stay Consistent

Most of us are spending the majority, if not all of our time at home. I've been thinking.. what could I do to make better use of this time? We could either waste our days away being a potato.. Or we could use this time to invest in ourselves, support others, learn new things, strengthen ourselves and grow in our faith.

Just because covid is still spreading and we're trapped in our homes doesn't mean we should stop living. This is a time to deeply reflect on our goals, hobbies, relationships and purposes. This is the time to truly look within ourselves and reflect on the life that we want to live and who we want to be.

Here's my condensed list of resolves I've been focusing on for the past months. They are not just goals for 2021. It's what I want to stay consistent with for life. I made a dumb acronym to help me remember. GREATNESS

Christianity & Politics

This video is so good! Wayne Grudem is a well respected professor and definitely one of our greatest theologians of our time. He is a key contributor and editor of the ESV translation too! This guy is a spiritual giant when it comes to Biblical teaching and understanding of God's Word. His theology and doctrine is legit, accurate and sound.

Wayne Grudem wrote a book called, "Systematic Theology." It is so detailed on the core doctrines of Christianity. He covers subjects like the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Nature of the triune God, justification & sanctification, scripture and the body of the church. That book had such a profound impact on me that it was one of the leading factors that lead me to pursue seminary. If I had to recommend one book that holistically encompasses Christian doctrine, this would be it.

To hear Grudem speak about politics in this video has deeply encouraged my beliefs. I'm so grateful to hear him speak on this topic. He makes some very strong points. He addresses Trump's character and policies. He stands up against any opposition to affirm that as Bible believing Christians we must do all things for the glory of God, this includes our political views.

Dear Future Chris,

I saw that a friend had written a letter to her future self exactly one year ago. It intrigued and inspired me. I was curious what I might say to the future version of myself. It's a way of forecasting and visualizing who you want to be in the future. Our thoughts speak to us everyday.. What do you say to yourself? Who knew introspection and writing to yourself could be so therapeutic?

Attachment Theory

Two are better than one,
Because they have a good return for their labor.
If either of them falls down,
one can help the other up.

But pity if anyone falls
and has no one to help them up.

Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm.
But how can one keep warm alone?

Though one may be overpowered,
two can defend themselves.

A cord of three strands is not quickly broken."

-Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

>> If you''d like to learn more about the psychology of relationships here's my recommended playlist

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLlWGe3qgcF7yMja1eGWd-wweaZ9q-luWc

Youtube has been my teacher lately. I found so much useful information. It's kinda been mind-blowing..seriously hours of pure relational education I wish I knew before. I'm like "Whoa! This makes so much sense!" I really recommend learning about all the different dynamics that make a healthy relationship.

Dating and relationships are fun, but it also requires a lot of work. It reveals areas of insecurity and places within ourselves where we need to confront ourselves and grow in self-improvement.  We can get caught up looking for the right person, rather than becoming the right person. Would you date you?  << woah..

But yeah these youtube videos are so educational! I learned a lot about myself in relational dimensions I never really thought about much. They really motivated me to become better all around.

The better we can understand and know ourselves + others, the more we grow in emotional/ relational intelligence, the better we'll be equipped for family, friendships, marriage and communication with all forms of relationships..

I realize there ain't a soul out there that will watch all these videos but whatever, the option to is there.
